Teeth Whitening, also known as bleaching is a cosmetic dental procedure that lightens the color of teeth by removing stains and discoloration. It involves the use of professional- grade bleaching agents (like hydrogen peroxide) to whiten teeth effectively and safely under expert supervision.
Discoloration can be both extrinsic or intrinsic. It can be due to factors like aging, diet, or smoking. Staining from tetracycline, fluorosis, or trauma can also be corrected using bleaching.

Teeth Whitening Procedure involves following steps:
Teeth whitening procedure usually starts with initial cleaning of teeth i.e. scaling and polishing to remove plaque and surface debris.
Isolation is done by application of cheek retractor and cotton rolls. Gingival barrier is also placed to protect soft tissues from chemical irritation.
Peroxide-based gel is evenly applied to the labial surface of the teeth, ensuring uniform coverage while avoiding contact with the soft tissue.
When using light activated systems, exposure time is 15-30 minutes per session. The gel is sometimes reapplied for better results.
After completion, we thoroughly suction and rinse the gel after the prescribed time and evaluate shade change.
Postoperative instructions include avoidance of staining foods and beverages for 24-48 hours. Patients are also informed about potential transient sensitivity and gingival irritation.

Types of Teeth Whitening Treatments:
1. Laser Teeth Whitening
It is a quick cosmetic procedure where a bleaching agent is applied to the teeth and activated with a laser, making teeth several shades lighter in about an hour.
Cost: 13,000 – 25,000 per session
2. Zoom Whitening (In-Clinic)
Teeth whitening at The Dental Roots in Gurgaon and South Delhi offers excellent result and is considered one of the best in the area. Our Zoom Whitening is the most popular teeth whitening procedure that uses a special hydrogen peroxide gel activated by Zoom LED light to quickly brighten teeth by several shades within 45 minutes. It’s highly effective and safe under dental supervision but can cause temporary sensitivity.
Cost: 12,000 – 20,000 per session
3. Custom Take-Home Whitening Trays (from Dentist)
Custom-made trays involve making personalized tray molded to fit teeth perfectly, which are filled with a whitening gel (usually carbamide peroxide) and are to be worn at home for a few hours daily or overnight. They offer gradual, even whitening with less sensitivity as compared to in-office treatments.
Cost: 5,000 – 15,000
4. Over-the-Counter Whitening Kits (Gels/Strips/Trays)
OTC whitening kits are affordable, easy to use products like whitening strips, trays, pens or gels. They usually contain lower concentrations of bleaching agents. They are effective for mild stains but may cause uneven whitening or mild sensitivity.
Cost: 500 – 5,000
5. Whitening Toothpaste & Mouthwash
These are everyday products designed to remove surface stains from teeth. They usually contain mild abrasives, while they can help maintain whiteness but they don’t change tooth color dramatically like professional treatments.
Cost: 100 – 500

Dentist Teeth Whitening Cost v/s At-Home Kits
Dentist teeth whitening offers faster, more significant results using stronger bleaching agents and professional supervision, but it’s more expensive (15,000-17,000) and may cause short-term sensitivity. At-home kits are cheaper (500–5,000), convenient, and good for mild stains or maintenance, but take longer to show results and carry a higher risk of uneven whitening if not used properly.

Factors affecting Teeth Whitening Treatment Costs:
1. Type of Treatment
Laser and Zoom whitening are more expensive than take-home trays or OTC kits due to advanced technology and faster results. They are more expensive because they use strong bleaching agents and special equipment.
2. Location & Clinic Reputation
Big cities or high-end clinics typically charge more due to overhead costs (rent, staff salaries) and brand value.
3. Dentist’s Expertise
Highly experienced or specialized cosmetic dentists may charge premium fees because of their skills and result quality.
4. Severity of Staining
Heavier staining might require multiple sessions or combination treatments thus increasing the total cost.
5. Technology & Products Used
Newer whitening systems and high-quality gels (e.g., Zoom, Opalescence) tend to be pricier because they are clinically proven, have better formulations and offer long lasting results.
At The Dental Roots, we are committed to delivering the best results for teeth whitening and ensuring 100% patient satisfaction. We offer teeth whitening at the best prices possible, without compromising on quality and care.
