Painless tooth extraction at the dental roots:

The oral and maxillo-facial team at the dental roots specializes in painless tooth extraction and a complete atraumatic tooth removal procedure. Dr. Guneet Dhillon, Dr. Vijay Siwach and Dr. Varun Nakra are present at the dental roots, Delhi and Gurgaon. They have an experience of about 15 years and are experts in their field. They specialise not only in taking out the tooth painlessly but also deal with traumatic injuries like jaw fracture, jaw dislocation, various cysts and intra-oral infections, pre-cancerous and cancerous lesions, wisdom teeth extractions etc.

Step 1:

A thorough examination is done by our specialist, deciding the root cause of the pain/ discomfort. Simultaneously, a thorough medical history and a few x-rays or scans is done to confirm the diagnosis. The chief complaint is understood by our dental specialist.

Step 2:

The patient is consulted thoroughly and made to explain each and every point that has led to this diagnosis of extraction. This discussion with the patient will not only include the treatment plan but also the prognosis of the treatment, the follow-ups, course of medication in case required, cost of the treatment and precautions. Once the patient is fully convinced, a written consent is also taken to mark a complete transparency of the treatment at the dental roots.

We make sure that there are no misunderstandings between the patient and the dental surgeon and thus, gaining their trust is of the utmost importance by our team.

Step 3:

We make sure that the patient is not empty stomach before any dental procedure especially that involves administration of local anesthesia. For any painless tooth extraction, local anesthesia administration is a must.

There are ways of doing it so that the patient is absolutely comfortable and at ease. Our dental surgeon first uses a topical anaesthetic gel or in some cases, topical anesthetic spray is used. Once the topical anesthesia kicks in within a few minutes, a local anesthetic block is administered with a needle syringe. To reduce the pain of the needle prick, an extremely thin gauged needle, 27 gauge, is used that is proven to be more accurate and causes less pain. The anesthesia is administered slowly so that there is no discomfort to the patient and the action potential is more.

Step 4:

After the administration of LA, we make the patient wait so that the local anesthesia starts effecting in 5-8 minutes. Until this time, the patient gets to relax a little so that they can get the tooth/teeth extracted easily without getting anxious.

In most of the cases, the patient can tell the onset of local anesthesia as they have subjective symptoms. The patient will feel heaviness and numbness on the injected and desired area, this means that the LA has worked its magic and our dental surgeon is good to go ahead with the procedure.

Step 5:

Once the patient gives a “go-ahead”, our dental surgeon starts with the procedure. They would first check that the desired area is completely anesthetised by checking with the numbness sensation of the patient. Once it is completely attained, the painless tooth extraction begins. We make sure that the patient is comfortable throughout the procedure and a few breaks are also given, if required.

Thus, the whole process of tooth extraction becomes atraumatic and painless at the dental roots.

Step 6:

Once the teeth extraction is done, the assessment is done whether there is a requirement of “stitches” aka sutures. Many of the cases do not require, nevertheless, it is made sure that the bleeding is stopped from the extracted socket. The patient might be asked to wait for a bit in order to observe.

Step 7:

Post extraction instructions are equally important that shouldn’t be ignored by the patient in order to maintain their painless teeth extraction experience at the dental roots. Certain instructions about the medications like antibiotics and painkillers, avoiding hot and chewy food for 24 hours, not spit or rinse for 24 hours, not to smoke/vape or have alcohol during the course of medications.
